Partly cloudy, chance of fireworks.

Aside from a few amateur fireworks on the lake this year, Luke had never seen an actual fireworks show. Every fourth, we end up deciding that it's just too late and intense for him to attend. Now we can say he's officially seen them - and right from our front yard!

We live around the block from a pretty well-to-do High School, and they celebrated their homecoming in September. I'd seen a sign saying there would be fireworks, but I'd forgotten all about it. We'd just gotten Luke to sleep when they started. He woke up, absolutely terrified! In an attempt to salvage the experience, we wrapped him in a blanket and went outside to watch.

It never occurred to either of us that he might mistake fireworks - which are, of course, in the sky - for a form of weather! A few minutes into it he said, "Mom, were fireworks in the forecast tonight?"
